Twitter Focus-

AgrichatUK was started back in 2011, founded by Edward Morgan, Charles Tassell,  Simon Haley and Jez Fredenburgh. Hosted by Will Wilson. It has grown significantly in the last five years, now boasting an impressive 20,369 followers and growing by the day.

It was the first agricultural based hashtag on Twitter, the premise being a place where people involved in agriculture can get together, to share ideas, discuss and debate. A place to connect with people from all different parts of the industry, from different parts of the country.

I believe it is such a brilliant idea, a place where you can come and talk with other people, all connected by the same thing, agriculture. As we all know, agriculture can be a lonely business, but with this, anyone can join in the discussion, have a chat, and it can really help. Plus, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

From debating the hot topics in the farming world, to discussing the past, present and future of agriculture, mental health and succession. There’s a new topic every week, special guests and co-hosts, you will never be bored.

Personally I enjoy reading others opinions on the topics, as well as contributing with my own. I can truly say I learn something new every week. It really shows how agriculture is changing and growing with social media, I never would’ve thought Twitter would be such a popular place for farming!

So make sure you join in for the SPECIAL AgrichatUK TONIGHT at 8pm debating the EU Referendum! Leave me a comment and let me know if you do…

5 Best Bits of Royal Cornwall Show

Having the Post-Royal Cornwall Show blues? Yeah, me too. Here are 5 of my best bits from the show.

If you’re anything like me then you’ll be currently suffering with the Post-Royal Cornwall Show blues, so to make myself feel better, and to remind myself of what a lovely show it was, I’ve put together my top 5 best bits of the Royal Cornwall Show 2016.

#1 Food & Farming

The Food and Farming tent is a main point in the show, and no show would be complete without a trip to it. It contains all the best of Cornish food and drink, and it is yummy. My particular favourites this year were; The Cornish Country Cordials (say that 5 times fast!) and they had the most delicious mocktails, which were so beautifully refreshing and such a wonderful idea! It was no wonder they had sold out by the end of the show.

#2 Pimms!

Pimms and the sun go hand in hand, add in a dash of the show and its the perfect combination. Nothing makes me feel like summer is finally here like a glass of Pimms! I shared a jug with a few friends in the members pavilion.

#3 Shearing

Royal Cornwall holds a purpose built sheep shearing building, at which crowds gather to see some of the world’s best shearers battle it out against one another for who can shear the sheep fastest. It is seriously impressive and they make it look a lot easier than it is, trust me!

The show is still very much an agricultural show, a place to do business and catch up with old friends. I believe it is extremely beneficial for the agricultural industry, that even though the industry is going through hard times with the falling prices, that everyone can still come together and celebrate successes in the show ring with one another.

#5 The Main Ring

Now, the main ring, the hub of the entertainment at the show. Each year I thoroughly enjoy whatever the main ring has to offer, and this year was no exception. My top pick this year was the inter-hunt relay competition. It was truly wonderful to see these long established hunts doing their thing in the ring and how well behaved the hounds were (lots of bribery).

Sneaky #6..The Shopping!

What? No, I’ve always had these shoes…

Thanks to Royal Cornwall Show for putting on another great show! Only 358 days to go!

Leave me a comment and tell me your favourite part of the show…
